CUISINE

Appalachian Trail Adventures has collaborated with local business―the Foundry Restaurant, the North Star Inn, Inn at the Long trail, and the Killington Delicatessen―to create delicious menus for our hikers to enjoy. Giving a “real Vermont vacation vibe” and support the local economy. Our meals are a balance of carbohydrates, proteins and healthy fats. We also offer meals for special diets, such as vegetarian, vegan, wheat-free and dairy-free options. On your first night’s arrival, dinner is included; then all meals are included until your checkout day, when a breakfast and a bagged lunch is supplied.

Whenever possible, ATA serves food that is raised locally, using sustainable techniques by local farmers and purveyors who have a respect and love for the lands of Vermont.  Every season we try to introduce innovative Vermont made products and fresh local farm products. Daily we use local Cabot butter and cheese, Vermont made and farmed Tabasco sauce, local eggs, King Arthur Flour pancakes, real Vermont maple syrup, Green Mountain Creamery’s non-fat yogurt, local apples (when in season) and more! In addition, our restaurant partners use fresh Vermont products and local New England products and seafood.

BREAKFAST AND LUNCH

Hikers pre-order breakfast and lunch from the menu the night before. Breakfast is served at the North Star Inn & Resort in the Star Lounge for ATA hikers and selected hotel patrons.

The Killington Delicatessen provides a healthy, bagged lunch that’s perfect for our scenic picnic locations such as the lakeshore, a mountaintop vista or near a cool, refreshing waterfall.  All of ATA vehicles are equipped with a cooler and ice packs to keep hiker’s lunches and their extra beverages cold.

DINNER

To finish off your true Vermont vacation, enjoy a massage before or after having a delicious dinner cooked by Executive Chef Scott Goddard at the locals’ favorite restaurant, the Foundry on the Summit Pond. After a short walk to our neighbor, you can dine on the deck with a glass of wine while viewing Killington Peak, Vermont’s second highest mountain.  Or you can dine at ATA’s local restaurant partner the Inn at the Long Trail’s McGraths Irish Pub or Rosemary’s Restaurant.

THE FOUNDRY ON THE SUMMIT POND

Located on the banks of a beautiful pond, The Foundry offers a distinct year-round dining experience. Their impeccable chef-driven cuisine provides guests the finest cuts of prime meats, fresh seafood, homemade pastas and much more. They use the freshest ingredients to create mouthwatering appetizers, flavorful side dishes and irresistible desserts designed to engage all of your senses. The Foundry experience focuses on providing unparalleled hospitality in a warm, relaxing setting. In addition to its dining options, The Foundry offers live entertainment regularly and is host to many of the area’s events. The Foundry Restaurant’s executive chef has created a delicious hiker menu which is able to fit special dietary restrictions such as vegan, wheat-free and dairy-free.

From the menu below, hikers can choose one appetizer or salad, a side dish, and an entrée or tavern sandwich.

MCGRATHS IRISH PUB AND ROSEMARY’S RESTAURANT
