GUIDED HIKING ADVENTURES

With more than 25 years of experience, we have chosen trails with the best scenic mountain vistas, waterfalls, historical features and lakes in Vermont. The majority of our hikes take place in the Green Mountain National Forest along the Appalachian Trail and Long Trail, the oldest long-distance hiking trail in the country. Our guided hiking adventures are very flexible to suit hikers of all ability levels. You can turn things up by going on an advanced hike, summiting a high peak; or you can take it easy with a beginner’s hike to a picturesque waterfall. ATA personalizes each guest’s experience, allowing hikes to be as long or short as guests desire.

Our personalized guided hiking adventure rates vary; we have many trail options including locations, group size, hiking duration and adventure(s) requested. Hikes can last any length of time desired, from one-hour, multiple-hours, to a half-day or full-day. For current prices, see ATA’s Guided Day Adventure Rates webpage. Please call or contact John for group availability and for more information; though he might be out leading a tour, so please leave a message or use our reservation form to book your adventure. Hiking can also be combined with a kayaking adventure, caving trip or sightseeing tour to make an adventure you will recall for years!

SHORT-DAY HIKES

The 1- to 2-hour, short-day hike is for all ability levels, including elderly, wheelchairs and the disabled. Our guides have local knowledge of what trails are muddy or have lots of bugs, and where the terrain has fewer roots and rocks so you are not staring down at your feet the whole hike. Short-day hikes can also be combined with a cave trip, kayaking trip or sightseeing tour to make a day’s adventure you will remember for years to come!

HALF-DAY HIKES

We provide a 2- to 4-hour, 3- to 6-mile local half-day hike for all ability levels. Our guides have local knowledge of what trails are muddy or have lots of bugs, and where the terrain has fewer roots and rocks so you are not staring down at your feet the whole hike. Half-day hikes can also be combined with a cave trip, kayaking trip or sightseeing tour to make a full day’s adventure you will remember for years to come!

FULL-DAY HIKES

On a full day, hiking distances range from 5 to 10 miles plus, depending on hikers’ requests and pace. Hiking times vary from 3 to 8 hours with a picnic lunch if desired (not included). If time allows and guests desire, we provide a sightseeing excursion to the local village or attraction.
