HIKING VACATIONS

ATA has a variety of personalized Hiking Vacations, which include a half or full day of adventure, consisting of a guided hike. If desired, Afternoon adventures offer a variety of options such as kayaking, either on a lake or flat-water river; a caving trip; or a sightseeing excursion to a local village or attraction. We recommend staying at the North Star Inn for your accommodations. However, guests are welcome to stay at any accommodation. In addition, guests are responsible for their own meals.

Our Hiking Vacations are very flexible, to suit all ability levels. You can turn it up one day and go on an advanced hike, and the next day take it easy with a beginner hike. ATA customizes each guest’s experience; hikes can be as long or as short as guests wish. Having a guide in front and rear enables some hikers on the same hike to go fast, while some go more slowly..

If you’ve always been fascinated by New England’s fall foliage, join us on a fall hiking vacation. Come to watch Vermont’s Green Mountains transform as Mother Nature works her artistry, coloring the mountainsides with brilliant oranges, reds, and yellows mixed between the evergreen trees. The fall foliage season is from late September into the first couple of weeks of October, with peak colors traditionally appearing the first week in October.

ATA’s guided half- or full-day hikes are for all ability levels. Half-day hikes can be followed with a picnic lunch at a scenic site. For afternoon adventures, you have a variety of options, such as more hiking, discovering Vermont’s pristine waterways by kayak on a lake or a flat-water river. For the more adventurous, ATA offers a caving trip. What better way to go underground than to explore a cave, led by ATA owner John Keough, who discovered New England’s largest cave? For the less adventurous, take a sightseeing tour to a quaint New England village, such as Woodstock, or visit an attraction, such as the Vermont Country Store, the 1881 Corn Maze, world-famous Cabot Cheese, Quechee Gorge, a local brewery, the New England Maple Museum and much more.

Besides supplying adventure, fun and a true Vermont vacation, ATA is an awarded winning, affordable hiking spa, fitness, wellness, weight loss and hiking vacation destination. ATA has a one of kind hiking vacation program in the country. Catering to guests from around the country and the world seeking a hiking vacation, mini-wellness vacation, a jump-starting getaway to help break bad habits or a weight loss retreat.

SPECIALIZED VACATIONS

PEAK BAGGER HIKING VACATION

ATA’s Peak Bagger Hiking Vacation is for those hikers who want the opportunity to hike all five of Vermont’s 4,000-foot mountains, the Appalachian Trail and the Long Trail, the oldest long-distance hiking trail in the country. Those who summit all five of Vermont’s 4,000-footers are awarded a certificate of accomplishment. In the hiking community, this accomplishment is referred to as peak bagging.

For fast-paced hikers we recommend 7 nights; for intermediate hikers who have a taste for adventure and want to summit Vermont’s 4,000-footers at their own pace, we recommend 7-10 nights. The rate for the Peak Bagger Vacation is an additional one-time charge of $300.00 per person for any length of stay, on top of ATA’s regular Hiking Vacation rates. Disclaimer: Due to weather, some summits may have zero visibility.

2019 Peak Bagger Dates: TBA. Please note the Peak Bagger Vacation is available anytime by special request; however, rates may vary.

HIKING, PADDLE AND YOGA RETREAT

ATA’s Hiking, Paddle and Yoga Retreat will show you around one of New England’s treasures, the Green Mountains of Vermont. Yoginis and hikers of all skill levels are welcome to join this all-inclusive yoga retreat.

Each yoga class is designed to open your body, loosen your joints and ease tension. Delicious meals nourish and sustain you, while meditation and yoga take you to a deep state of inner peace. This isn’t a typical, strict, back-to-back yoga retreat, but more of a yogic holiday escape―so feel free to indulge in a dessert or a glass of wine as well! Be as relaxed or as active as you like during your vacation with optional activities such as silent walks, kayaking, caving, private yoga sessions or massage therapy. Share your love of yoga with a friend, too; inviting a friend is a great way to discover the practice of yoga.

The Hiking, Paddle and Yoga Retreat dates are to be determined. Contact John for more information; though he might be out leading a tour, so please leave a message.
